There’s a fascinating close-up of a crossword puzzle, in which the answers do not remotely match the clues. The fake ones filled in include ‘Railwaystation’, ‘Engineers’, ‘Ennui’ and ‘Prostitution’. One wonders if there was a hidden agenda…

I used to stand on the embankment near St Albans
Station as the Midland Pullman passed 10 metres
in front of me. It was the prettiest and most
feminine train I have seen in my life (with a
total absence of exhaust !).
Gone but not forgotten.
